Right To Manage

If you live in a development of apartments and at least half of the owners wish to take responsibility for the management of the development then the ‘Right To Manage’ (RTM) process may be able to help you and your fellow owners assume control.

This process forms part of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002, which offers leaseholders the opportunity to take control of the management of their freeholder or landlord-managed property without having to prove that the freeholder or landlord is at fault or has mismanaged the building.

It is simply a transfer of responsibility and decision making from the freeholder or landlord to a special ‘Right To Manage’ Company (RTMCo), which is set up by leaseholders and enables them to manage their building.
